00 — HelloAlexandria, Egypt

Hi, I’m Abdelrahman.

I build the systems behind the experience.

I’m a software engineer with a backend focus. I design and maintain APIs, untangle slow data flows and modernize legacy code — and because I also ship Angular features, I build with the screen on the other side in mind.

00 — At a glance

What I build, and with what.

  1. a

    APIs & backend services

RESTful APIs for production SaaS, including 50+ for Octopaye’s core workflows.

    • Node.js
    • TypeScript
    • Express
    • NestJS
  2. b

    Data & performance

MongoDB access that holds up: only the fields needed, paged or batched reads, filtering done in the query.

    • MongoDB
    • Mongoose
    • MySQL
    • Sequelize
  3. c

    Frontend features

Angular features built on top of my own APIs, from the endpoint to the screen.

    • Angular
    • TypeScript
    • HTML
    • CSS / SCSS
  4. d

    Cloud, real-time & CMS

AWS on the way to microservices, Socket.io for real-time, Strapi as a headless CMS.

    • AWS
    • Socket.io
    • Strapi

Chapter 01

The journey, so far.

From a computer science degree in Minufiya to production SaaS work for a UK company.

  1. 2016 – 2020 · Education

    Bachelor in Computer Science

Faculty of Computers and Information, Minufiya University

  2. Apr – Jul 2021 · Education

    MEARN Stack Diploma

    Information Technology Institute (ITI)

  3. 2021

    Sep 2021 – Aug 2022 · Alexandria

    Backend Developer

    Blue Holding

My first engineering role, on the backend only: event, healthcare-booking and real-time products plus internal systems, mostly with Node.js, Express and Strapi.

    • Events
    • Healthcare booking
    • Real-time
    • Internal tools
  4. 2022

    Aug 2022 – present · UK, remote

Software Engineer backend / full stack

    Make It Simple

Octopaye, a payroll product: new features, and rebuilding the older ones. I design and maintain APIs, fix performance problems at their source and deliver through to Angular.

    • 50+ RESTful APIs
    • Performance
    • Legacy modernization
    • End to end

Selected work.

02.1 — Make It Simple · payroll SaaS

Octopaye

50+APIs · one mark each
Conceptual illustration

A payroll product built by Make It Simple. We added new features and rebuilt older ones, so most of my work has been building and refactoring, from APIs to Angular.

Detail: stopped crashing exports, reports and list screens by fetching only needed fields, paging or batching, and filtering in MongoDB.

Node.js · Express · MongoDB · Mongoose · Angular · AWS

02.2 — Blue Holding · 2021–22

Eventeck

Conceptual illustration

An event platform with separate portals for attendees, organizers and exhibitors. It was paused before launch.

My part: backend work, including payments through Strapi. Live streaming was next when the project was paused.

02.3 — Blue Holding · 2021–22

TCP-Jeddah

Conceptual illustration

A simple appointment platform that helps people quit smoking: find a specialized clinic or doctor, then book a visit.

My part: I developed the backend — discovery of clinics and doctors, and appointment booking.

02.4 — Blue Holding · 2021–22

Pfizer Flip

An engaging flip-card game, played in real time.

My part: the backend and real-time communication, my first time using Socket.io in a real product.

Node.js · Express · Socket.io · Strapi

Conceptual illustration

Also at Blue Holding — an IT support ticket system and an HR system.

Chapter 03

How I work.

  1. 01

I investigate production problems down to their cause.

Found through user complaints, logs and bugs I catch while working other tickets — including crashing exports traced to oversized MongoDB reads.

  2. 02

I make existing systems more dependable.

Exports, reports and list screens that used to crash stopped crashing after I reworked how they read data.

  3. 03

I simplify legacy code without breaking what depends on it.

Refactoring legacy APIs and modules while keeping production workflows compatible.

  4. 04

I build the backend with the frontend in mind.

Features delivered end to end, across backend services and Angular.

  5. 05

I work the whole path to production.

With QA and other engineering teams, from development through testing to delivery.
